The Department of Student Communications produces a coordinated and collaborative communication strategy for all internal student communication efforts outside of the classroom. We partner closely with members of Student Development and Campus Life, Enrollment Management and Academic Affairs to bridge communication gaps, produce effective messaging through various channels, streamline processes and enhance student engagement and belongingness across both the Montclair and Bloomfield campuses.
What We Do
- All important date information, deadlines, emergency communications, registration info, payment deadline, etc., are always sent through a different email, msuadmin@parkviewhousebb.com. The information sent through the Montclair Administration email account is timely and extremely important.
- Red Hawk News: A weekly email newsletter sent to all students. It shares campus events, deadlines, career opportunities, and student resources. Targeted messaging is also available for specific student groups, including but not limited to residents, commuters, and class years.
Social Media
- Red Hawk Life: This social media team does takeovers, profiles, giveaways and a video series called Prize Ride where you can get picked up by someone in our golf cart and taken to your destination, if you answer the trivia question correctly! Check Out Red Hawk Life.
- Hawk Squad: Hawk Squad is a school spirited, student run leadership team with the goal to help students stay connected by promoting upcoming events, clubs and organizations. Stay in the Loop!
Emergency Alerts
- Rave Mobile Safety Alerts: Emergency text messages sent in collaboration with University Police and Communications on an as needed basis.
NEST Portal & Digital Media
- NEST Portal & Announcements: The central hub for student account information, registration, class schedules, and financial aid, ensuring accessibility and up-to-date content. The announcement feature is utilized to alert students of important deadlines and reminders when they log in.
Campus Traditions
- Rocky the Red Hawk: Everyone loves Rocky, our school’s mascot. He and his Handlers, (members of Team Rocky) go around campus and spread Red Hawk Pride. You will see Rocky roaming around campus in his golf cart and when you do, take a picture! Learn More about Rocky
